The Girlies Go Shopping

It had been carefully planned for a month. We saved money from TWO pay checks (bearing in mind that we get paid monthly). The time finally came... Girls trip to Sapporo!

Erin, Sarah and myself took a bus to the city where we instantly started shopping in JR tower. After scoffing down a "dericious" lunch at sushi train, we took the subway to our hotel. We decided to spend a chill night in our room, which turned out to be massive, even by western standards. We watched sumo wrestling, soaked our feet in the tub and wore mud masks: divine. Tamar, Michelle and Satsuki joined us later that evening.

The next day was a whirlwind of shopping, scoring new and pre-loved clothes, fake eyelashes (all the rage here) and sparkly make-up. The most noticeable thing for all of us was just how girly everything is in Japan. Cutesy bows, pastels, Hello Kitty, florals, glitter, scrunchies (throw back!), hearts... All a bit overwhelming. All the japanese girls run around in short skirts and high heels, giggling and saying "kawai!", which means cute in Japanese. So surreal.

I have to say the photo booth experience was one of the most fun activities. The machine basically makes your eyes look massive and whitens your skin: a japanese beauty ideal. You get to decorate the photos however you want, even adding make-up and false lashes if you so desire. So amusing. The photos come out in sticker format, so you can paste your modified face on whatever you like.

That night, Erin, Sarah and I went for a karaoke nomi-hodai: two hours in a private karaoke room, all you can drink. We belted out tunes and drank grape chu-hai until our voices gave out.

Sushi train in JR tower.

Bluefin tuna. Nom, nom.

In the subway. Which one doesn't belong?

Car accident. Boom. Happened right before we turned the corner.

So. Many. Scrunchies.

Photobooth!

Decorating the photos.

Sunglasses. Dork, dorker and dorkiest.

The best ramen I have ever had, hands down.

Ha.

My score!

So rocking it at El Casa, house o' Karaoke.

False eye lashes and all. Lovely.

Sapporo Time Square.

BEST TRIP EVER!
